Build a scarecrow, see it displayed all over Downtown Mount Dora, and help fund cancer screenings for our community.

How It Works

1. Register & Pay

Fill out the form below, then pay the $75 entry fee through PayPal.

2. Build Your Scarecrow

Get creative. Keep it family-friendly and no taller than 6 feet.

3. Drop It Off

Drop it off at Parks and Rec October 6 through 9, between 9am and 4pm. City staff will set it up for you.

Who Can Enter?

  • Businesses & Organizations

  • Clubs & Community Groups

  • Schools, Families, and Individuals
 

The Rules

  • Max height: 6 feet

  • Must stand upright (the city supplies mounting equipment)

  • Family-friendly themes only

No adult, political, religious, violent, frightening, or bloody themes.

📦 Scarecrow Drop-Off Info

Drop off your finished scarecrow October 6 through 9, 2026, between 9am and 4pm.

City staff will help place and install your scarecrow downtown.

🏆 Awards & Recognition

All scarecrows will be displayed publicly throughout Downtown Mount Dora.

  The Mayor of Mount Dora and City Council Members will vote on their favorites. The Top 3 scarecrows will receive prizes and promotion on Monsters in the Morning and local media!

Scarecrows are judged and winners are recognized during the Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 17, from 5pm to 9pm, when guests stroll downtown to see them all.

After you submit, you’ll be taken to PayPal to pay your $75 entry fee.
