Mark Poulalion
My name is Mark Poulalion, and I had the privilege of being married to my best friend, Karla Kay, for a short time—but we shared a deep friendship for over 50 years. She was the kindest, funniest, most gentle soul, and losing her has left an unfillable space in my life and in the lives of so many who loved her.
Karla battled sharp pains long before we reunited, but because she didn’t have insurance, she avoided going to the doctor. By the time she finally sought medical attention, it was too late. Shortly before we were married, we were told the devastating news: stage four cancer, beyond the possibility of surgery. I can’t help but think how different that conversation would have been if she had access to early detection.
That’s why we started this fund—not alone, but with the people who loved Karla most. Her brother, Russ, her daughters, and a close group of girlfriends who stood by her side are all part of this mission. The Karla Kay Poulalion Early Detection Fund exists so others won’t have to go through what she did. Scan While You Can isn’t just a phrase—it’s a mission. Your donation helps provide critical screenings to those who need them, even if they don’t have insurance. Early detection saves lives, and together, we can give more people the chance to catch cancer before it’s too late.
I hope you’ll join us in honoring Karla’s memory by helping others get the care they deserve.
Donate today and make a difference.
